Yoga
One of the greatest gifts of India to the world is yoga and meditation. Students at Shloka are trained right from day one in various ‘Asanas’. Yoga is followed by prayer and meditation everyday. This rejuvenates the mind and the body to start a new day on a good note..
Digital English Lab
Learning how to become an effective public speaker can be the key difference between a success and a failure!
At Shloka, we follow LSRW methodology, to teach English language.
LSRW — Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing are the four aspects and is the right way to learn any language. We unconsciously adopt this methodology of learning while learning our mother tongue. These basic functions are available in a conventional digital language lab.
These four essential skills are systematically put to work in tandem with activities that require their use and are designed to support learners in the process of acquiring communication skill sets quickly. Children/students are exceptionally tech-savvy and enjoy their every moment interacting online graphically. Seamlessly integrating these skills to work together and improve simultaneously, Focal skills, content-based instruction, task-focused curriculum and a project-centric approach permits implementation of LSRW more effective than in a conventional setting and captivatingly enjoyable for student.
Listening: Develop a variety of receptive skills such as listening for gist, for details inferring meaning from the context and extracting main ideas or information from its context.
Speaking: Emphasis on natural conversation, provide speaking opportunities that systematically build-up on oral fluency, while offering personalized speaking practice sessions and opportunities to share opinions that are fun and enjoyable
Reading: Sometimes referred to as written comprehension, reading is a key skill vital to language development. Often there is a feeling that reading is not as useful as speaking, but these skills are equally important.
Writing: When learning a foreign language, writing is a skill that students must develop. When expressing oneself in a language, this is only done in an oral fashion; written communication is vital to language learning.
We have set up an exclusive digital language lab to train students in 5 Phases
1. Spoken English/ Body Language
2. Script writing
3. Rehearsals
4. Speech
5. Feedback on the speech
Activity Based Learning
Activity-based learning is the process of learning by doing. As opposed to asking kids to simply listen and take notes, activity-based learning encourages students to actively participate in their own learning experience through practical activities such as problem-solving and independent investigation.
Benefits
- Helps students to memorize information
- Encourages kids to be independent and inquisitive
- Supports social development
- Encourages kids to express themselves in different ways.
i-Aspire
General practices, like rereading things multiple times (without thinking), underlining stuff, etc. are the most ineffective and time consuming methods of study, which do not help the students to perform well in competitive exams. So Shloka prepares students for competitive exams through i-Aspire program. The young students alongside their regular syllabi are exposed to ‘higher order learning’ via ‘i-Aspire Classes’. This stimulates them to put on their thinking caps and analyze in depth, the ‘whys’ and the ‘wherefores’. They are thus groomed from just receivers of knowledge, to evolve into thinking and questioning learners. i-Aspire follows practice tests, elaborative interrogation, self-explanation, interleaved practice study methods, that are demonstrated to give best results to students.
Tarang
The ending of a year is an eventful time for schools and students. It is also the time when Shloka organizes the most important event of the year, ‘Tarang’, the annual day. ’Tarang’ celebrations provides Shloka students an opportunity to showcase their achievements. This function also gives students an opportunity to showcase their various talents and interact with their teachers in a more informal environment. From dance performances to plays and musical events to speeches, the school annual day is one day that is eagerly anticipated by children and parents alike, every year. This is also a day when achievers are felicitated for their accomplishments in the academic year.
Investiture Ceremony
At Shloka, we provide our young students ample opportunities to take up new responsibilities on their shoulders that would make them influencers, leaving a strong impact on the masses. Students of today are the visionaries and torch bearers of tomorrow. Investiture Ceremony is one first momentous occasions of the school where the newly elected members of the school’s cabinet are officially vested with their powers and position.
“Leadership is not a position or a title. It is an action and example. “
